A HUGE congratulations goes out to CHS Seniors Destiny Humes and Jayvion Boone! These seniors are the inaugural winners of Carrollton's Saginaw Award for Excellence from Saginaw Valley State University! Peliah Saxton was recognized at this week’s board meeting for the Superintendent’s Outstanding Citizenship Award. As a 7th grade member of student council, the CMS Leadership class, a volleyball team member, participant in the school play, and a Chief Science Officer, Peliah has demonstrated remarkable dedication in supporting our school mission, fostering a spirit of citizenship and excellence within our school and in the local Carrollton community.
Peliah is also in the process of creating a “Period Pantry” to be placed in the Carrollton Township Offices.The pantry will be stocked with feminine hygiene products so that the young women have access to these necessary products. To fund this project, Peliah has organized cookie sales, Goodie bucket sales and is planning a pizza sale in the future. CHS teacher, Ms. Ona, was given the Bridge Builder Award by Mr. Benson at this week’s board meeting. Attending almost every home sporting event, staying after school to help students who are struggling, and being a wonderful role model are a just a few of the many reasons Mr. Benson gave for nominating Ms. Ona. Mr. Benson also invited CHS students to share why they feel that Ms. Ona is a Bridge Builder. Many students took the opportunity to share why they appreciate Ms. Ona, such as “her room is the best safe space”, “she helps you with everything and she doesn't judge you based on anything.If you need to talk to her about anything she will always be there to listen and give you advice” and “she cares about you as an individual person and not just as a student.” Thank you Ms. Ona for exemplifying #theCavalierdifference! ❤️🤍🖤 #BuildingStrongerTogether
