Dear Carrollton Cavalier Families,
Welcome October! I bring positive greetings from the Central Office! September has been an exciting time in Cavalier Nation, with so many great things happening in every building! From the first days of school to the upcoming Homecoming week, Carrollton Public Schools continues to show itself as the #DestinationDistrict, where every Cavalier matters!
The excitement about the school year continues to be strong all across our school community! Students have settled into their routines and have become comfortable in the school setting. Teachers are focused on providing every student with opportunities for critical thinking. As I visit classrooms and tour buildings, I am impressed by the levels of deep learning and engagement. Also, I continue to be in awe of our amazing community - a host of great people, who are invested in and care about what is best for our kids! Your dedication and support is appreciated and recognized at every level. Thank you for your continued partnership!
In order to maintain this positive momentum, our first priority continues to be making sure our students and staff are safe when they are on our campuses, and that this safety is maintained at all times. One area of continuous improvement is parking lot safety, particularly in the elementary. We have seen a marked improvement and we are grateful to all of our families for your help. We realize the busyness of families and we will continue to do our best to provide a safe arrival and dismissal process.
In monitoring traffic in the parking lot, total time for pick-up and exiting takes about 10 - 12 minutes. Below are a few suggestions for a more positive experience when picking up your student(s) in the elementary parking lot:
Allow extra time - There are many vehicles in the parking lot so even a few more minutes make a difference.
Utilize parking spaces - Parking in a space helps to declutter and provide a moving traffic flow.
Be courteous and give grace - Assume positive intent and give grace to others.
Exercise patience - Plan for 10-12 minutes in the parking lot.
Keep the focus on safety - Every Cavalier Matters and their safety is THE top priority. Make sure your driving is an example of safety by following the traffic signs and patterns, and slowing down.
Let's continue to be a positive school community and make our district a safe environment for all.
Second only to school safety is academic achievement and social wellness for every student. We continue working toward a restorative culture in every school. To do this, our focus on MTSS (multi-tiered system of support) provides the foundation for every student to have success and come out of the pandemic stronger than ever before. Teachers, administrators, and support staff know the value of working together with families to ensure every child is provided a quality educational experience that is grounded in critical thinking. We believe these practices can change the trajectory of our students’ lives and we look forward to working with families to ensure this takes place.
As we strengthen our home-school partnership, there are many ways you can become actively engaged in the school community. Attending school activities is a great way to build relationships and support your child. Cavalier educators welcome you into our classrooms, buildings, and district.
