World Down Syndrome Day is on March 21 every year. It is a global awareness day with the goal of helping people understand and support those with Down syndrome better. The date being the 21st day of the 3rd month was chosen to represent the triplication (trisomy) of the 21st chromosome which causes Down syndrome. Peliah Saxton was recognized at this week’s board meeting for the Superintendent’s Outstanding Citizenship Award. As a 7th grade member of student council, the CMS Leadership class, a volleyball team member, participant in the school play, and a Chief Science Officer, Peliah has demonstrated remarkable dedication in supporting our school mission, fostering a spirit of citizenship and excellence within our school and in the local Carrollton community. Peliah is also in the process of creating a “Period Pantry” to be placed in the Carrollton Township Offices.The pantry will be stocked with feminine hygiene products so that the young women have access to these necessary products. To fund this project, Peliah has organized cookie sales, Goodie bucket sales and is planning a pizza sale in the future. We commend Peliah for exemplifying #theCavalierdifference with her dedication to community service! ❤️🤍🖤 #BuildingStrongerTogether
