Dear Cavalier Community,

I hope this message finds you well. As we approach the end of the first marking period, I want to take a moment to welcome everyone back and reflect on the great start we’ve had to this school year. Over the last ten weeks, it has been inspiring to see our amazing students and dedicated staff engage in their learning and activities with such enthusiasm. It has also been a pleasure to partner with such involved and supportive families and community partners. In this, I continue to be the proud Superintendent of Carrollton Public Schools.

The start to the school year has been filled with meaningful opportunities to connect with our families. Thank you to all the parents and guardians who attended parent-teacher conferences—your partnership plays a key role in student success. We also hosted our first Cavalier Family Forum, where we engaged in thoughtful conversations about topics important to our students and families. Our Walk to School Day brought out many elementary students, families, and community partners for a fun and active morning together.Carrollton Elementary School and Carrollton Middle School welcomed families to the Title I Parent Night, offering valuable information about our MTSS Framework and ways to support students at home. Most recently, we held the district-wide Great Pumpkin Parade, which combined the spirit of our Trunk or Treat with our Parent Resource Fair.

The week of October 6th was Homecoming Week, and was filled with school spirit and lots of celebration across the district. Activities during the school day, the parade, the football game with the crowning of the king and queen, alumni who come back to showcase school spirit and community pride, and the dance as the finale, make for an enjoyable event to look forward to every year. Thank you to all of the staff members, Cavalier families, community partners who make sure Homecoming is a memorable event!

In recognition of Safe Schools Week, all employees in our district participated in a Day of Safety professional development. Local leaders who specialize in school safety and mental health/wellness were invited to present on topics including trauma-informed practices, active shooter preparation, digital safety, CPR and first-aid techniques, and safety drill procedures. The goals of the training were awareness and preparation, to improve our efforts with safety, and to better ensure a safe learning environment. This is an important day of professional development for staff, and helps us all be better prepared and contribute to ensuring a safe learning environment for all. I want to thank all of the district leaders and staff members who served as presenters and planners of this successful district-wide event.

I am equally thrilled to celebrate the achievements of all of our student-athletes. Our cross country, varsity volleyball, and middle school football players have many noted achievements we can all be proud about.  The hard work and dedication of all our student athletes exemplify the spirit of Cavalier Pride, and we look forward to supporting our fall sports teams at their upcoming banquet.

Despite the challenges posed by the ongoing state budget issues, I want to assure you that we remain committed to providing quality learning experiences, nutritious meals, and extended programming for our Cavaliers. We have resolved to keep moving forward. We recently received an unmodified opinion from our auditor, which is excellent news and a testament to our financial stewardship. We celebrate this win, and look ahead to continued success and strong decision-making.

Looking ahead, please mark your calendar for events where you can participate in partnership with our schools and district:
