Good morning Cavalier Family,

I hope this message finds you well.

Below please find the link to a letter that all districts in Saginaw county are sending to their stakeholders regarding the pending state budget and its potential impact on our students, staff, and programs.

Michigan State Budget Letter

The letter highlights the importance of protecting the School Aid Fund for its intended purpose: educating Michigan’s children and students regardless of ZIP code. By speaking with one voice, the thought is that we can demonstrate solidarity and ensure understanding that we are working together as a county to protect education funding.

As always, should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to me.

Thank you and have a great day.

With Cavalier Pride,
Tiffany Peterson, ED.S.

A letter from Saginaw Intermediate School District dated August 28, 2025, addressed to community members, families, and staff. It explains that lawmakers in Lansing are considering proposals that could change how public schools are funded. The letter emphasizes that Michigan law requires the School Aid Budget to be approved by July 1 each year, but lawmakers have missed that deadline, creating the risk of a government shutdown and delayed funding. The ISD warns against redirecting School Aid Fund dollars away from public education and stresses that schools depend on timely state aid payments to pay teachers and staff, maintain class sizes and services, keep buses and facilities running, and support academic programs and extracurriculars. The letter urges community members to advocate for a budget agreement to protect students’ education.
