welcome back heart

Welcome Back and Happy New Year!

January 3, 2023

Dear Carrollton Community,

I hope you and your families have enjoyed winter break and have had the chance to relax and reflect on the New Year.  While I do not make resolutions, I do concentrate on personal and professional commitments. For 2023, I remain committed to working in partnership with our educators and families to change the trajectory of the lives of every student.  I further commit to being a positive light in our community to represent our district with Cavalier Pride.  In these, I find a sense of personal well-being which contributes positively to my own self-care and ultimately the future of our community.

As we prepare to return to school on Wednesday, January 4, 2023, please keep in mind the potential impact of respiratory diseases (RSV, influenza, and COVID-19) circulating in our community.  We will need everyone’s help to reduce the effects on school operations in these first few weeks following winter break.  Remember proactive measures still apply - keeping up with vaccinations, practicing healthy habits to prevent the spread of illness, and staying home if you are sick.  We want every student in school, every day, so please make health and wellness a priority.  Also, please be sure to establish your home to school routines and review appropriate school behavior with your child so they are successful and ready for learning.

Looking ahead, the half-way point to the school year will arrive in just a few weeks on January 19, 2023.   It is important that students in all grades put forth their best effort to make progress, earn passing grades, and credit toward graduation.  Academics remains a top priority in Carrollton and teachers will continue to work hard to help students gain skills that will carry them to the next level.  Let’s continue working together in partnership to see every student succeed.

I wish every Cavalier all the best in the new year.  I continue to be honored to serve as your Superintendent.  Thank you for supporting our district and for choosing Carrollton Public Schools for your child’s education.

With Cavalier Pride,

Tiffany L. Peterson, Ed.S.
