Welcome back cavaliers, MLK Day image of MLK and quote

January 4, 2024

Dear Carrollton Community,

Welcome January, welcome back, and Happy New Year!  I hope this letter finds you in good health and you have enjoyed winter break.  As we embark on a new year, I want to express my gratitude for your unwavering support and dedication to our schools.  I remain committed to working in partnership with our educators and families to positively change the trajectory of the lives of every student.  I further commit to being a positive light in the community to represent our district with Cavalier Pride.

Our commitment to providing a safe and nurturing environment for our students remains our number one priority.  We will continue to prioritize their well-being and academic growth, ensuring that they have the tools and resources they need to succeed. Collaboration between parents, teachers, and the community will be key in achieving this goal, and I encourage you to actively participate in these efforts.

Parents and community members can get involved by actively participating in various ways. They can attend community meetings, join committees, volunteer their time and skills, provide input and feedback, and support fundraising efforts. Additionally, staying informed through school newsletters, social media, and district websites can help everyone stay connected and engaged in the initiatives.

Coming soon will be our first Community Forum, where parents and members of the school community will work together to discuss important topics in education.  Through structured activities and honest discussion, together, we will work to identify needs of students and families and use problem-solving to reach workable solutions. Stay tuned for more information, including a survey to help us select topics for our meetings.

As school resumes, we also look ahead to the half-way point of the school year which will arrive in just a few weeks with the start of the second semester. It is important that students in all grades put forth their best effort to make progress, earn passing grades, and credit toward graduation.  Academics remains a top priority in Carrollton and teachers will continue to work hard to help students gain skills that will carry them to the next level.  Let’s continue working together in partnership to see every student succeed!

I wish every Cavalier all the best in the new year.  I continue to be honored to serve as your Superintendent.  Thank you for choosing Carrollton Public Schools for your child’s education.

With Cavalier Pride,

Tiffany L. Peterson, Ed.S.
