Gratitude Matters, Every Cav Every day, a cornucopia in background

November 2023

Dear Cavalier Community,

Welcome November!  What a busy and productive start to the 2023-2024 school year!  From our first days in August to the end of the first marking period, Cavalier Pride has shown itself to be alive and woven into the fabric of everything Carrollton Public Schools! It is a great time to be a Cavalier!

A few highlights of the first months of school include the following:

  • The Military and First Responders Night honored local veterans.

  • Our Robotics Team was awarded a check for $1,000 from as a match for their successful fundraising.

  • The CHS Hispanic Heritage Month program was performed across the district and was  meaningful for every Cavalier.

  • The Walk-to-School Day tradition was very successful, with the largest group of student, staff, and community participants since pre-Covid.

  • Homecoming and Spirit Week was an inclusive and enjoyable experience for every Cavalier.

  • Under the tutelage of coach Kristin Palmer the Lady Cavs are conference Champs for the first time since 1993, while posting back to back 20 + win seasons in the same time frame.

  • Educators at every level participated in district-wide professional development to enhance professional practice, including safeTalk training with the Barb Smith Suicide Resource and Response Network and social media training presented by ISD Deputy Superintendent Scott Sawyer and Executive Director of Human Resources, Andrea Wise.

  • The kindness assembly in recognition of October Bully Awareness and Prevention Month, presented by Mr. Guy, from Worlds of Music, was a great learning opportunity for our elementary Cavaliers.

  • The India Project has been restored in Carrollton as we cultivated our partnership with SVSU and hosted delegates from India on our campus.

As you can see, there is so much pride in Carrollton Public Schools!  We are proud of #everyCAVeveryday, and we are committed to the academic achievement and social-emotional well-being of our students.

Safety continues to be a top priority.  We strive to make Carrollton Public Schools a place where every student feels safe and has a sense of belonging. In addition, clear expectations for appropriate school behavior is also a focus so that instructional time is protected and there are minimal interruptions to learning.

We also believe safety in our parking lots and school community is equally important.  There is a continuous focus on improvement in this area.  We have partnered with Spicer Group, a company who analyzes traffic patterns in parking lots and provides recommendations.  You may have also noticed there are speed signs posted in the community to help keep our kids safe as they are traveling to and from school. Stay tuned for a survey that will give families the opportunity to give feedback that may be helpful to improving the driving and parking lot experience.

Along with safety, our focus continues to be on achievement, providing every student with a quality educational experience.  Equally important is making sure the social-emotional well being of every student is attended to daily.  The Arts and Athletics are also a priority as we seek to ensure there is something for everyone, and whatever lane is of interest to students there is opportunity to pursue it.  Our goal is to change the trajectory of the lives of our students, providing a well-rounded education that allows every Cavalier to be competitive in a global world. I believe our educators are dedicated to the purpose and our students are showing marked improvement.
